@idzie@kolektiva.social I reside within a corralada (fence) of mountains, which hang dusty blue at sunset and sunrise. The valley splays out in a vast expanse of pioneering creosote against light-colored sand, and in the broad valley it is deceptively void of life. In amongst the desert saltbrush, creosote, and sacred datura however are small holes dotting the dry landscape from which at dusk and dawn emerge the crepuscular residents of this land: ground squirrels of many varieties, jackrabbits, and burrowing owls. Within the expansive, craggy mountains however lives white sage, lavender, tobacco and brilliant smoketrees which seem to glow purple after rains. In summer, bats flit about the mesquite at night devouring insects while in the winter the lone song of a great white owl can sometimes be heard.
