Oh. Maybe All those translators have been large language models all this time.
Funny, the very google ai review gives purpose based difference as main and speed as secondary that i believe "number of examples".
I used AI at school then. Hooray... huh. Back then, before AI boom, teacher did say it can give garbage results but is able to properly translate words or small sentences and we should use it with care. Basically the same advice given for modern AI LLM. #AI #LLM

@Nirik@hooves.social Hi! I decided to reply because your post is right up my alley. You're correct that translators work like primitive neural networks. The main difference is that LLMs were trained on much more data. This gave them emergence. Thanks to the massive connections between concepts, these models build their own world view and can "understand" the core meaning of a text. Traditional translators were only trained on pairs of words and phrases, which is why they make mistakes more often.
