We're thrilled to see the Commission acknowledge that this is an issue, and lay out a strategy to fix it. We view this announcement as validation of Mastodon’s mission at the highest level; the Commission’s strategy is grounded in European values that Mastodon shares including security, sustainability, and human-centric design. What’s more, the EU's explicit strategy is to build and deeply invest in #OpenSource offerings across the entire technology stack. @haubles@hachyderm.io @EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu I was hearing about this on the @fsfe@mastodon.social podcast. I really hope the commission's idea of regaining sovereignty is through the adoption of #libresoftware (GPL licenses), and not a simple pivot from a US proprietary software to EU ones.

Just ask someone you know if you get stuck with the technology. A bit like there is slow food you have to use cutlery for and chew on before you can swallow. It is European!
