@haubles@hachyderm.io @EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu I was hearing about this on the @fsfe@mastodon.social podcast. I really hope the commission's idea of regaining sovereignty is through the adoption of #libresoftware (GPL licenses), and not a simple pivot from a US proprietary software to EU ones.

@haubles@hachyderm.io @EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu @Mastodon@mastodon.social “European values that Mastodon shares including security, sustainability, and human-centric design” … and a certain degree of friction and difficulty. Just ask someone you know if you get stuck with the technology. A bit like there is slow food you have to use cutlery for and chew on before you can swallow. It is European!

@haubles@hachyderm.io Yes - and the next layer to close: the models train on uncompensated creative, journalistic, scientific work from the very Europe this is meant to make sovereign. Open source infra + revenue levy + redistribution closes the loop. Manifesto (DE): https://troet.cafe/@ttttt/116572097989443864
