@jayalane@mastodon.online @henryseg@mathstodon.xyz I am very skeptical of that, I've certainly found it hard to get standard conference templates working and would fear trying to recompile my phd thesis now.
Even if it was true, markdown is far better defined anyway, and all my points stand.

The accessibility alone is a serious flaw (even not being able to reflow with different page dimensions is a pain). But it is more temporally safe than most old formats. I have downloaded very old Tex and rerun it, and have a 17 year old presentation I periodically regenerate. Nothing too fancy tho.
