probably not good that it took me this long to fully comprehend given how far i am into volume 1, but the concept of "labor-power" has finally clicked for me. initially, i conceived the avenue of exploitation for the capitalist class to be just a matter of power imbalance, where the capitalist has the leverage to stiff the employee and not pay them what they are worth. but that's actually not exactly what marx is saying.
