It's crazy seeing all the backlash over Discord's age verification stuff at this point. I utilised the bypass although I'm regretting even using that (as someone said, that's not really protesting against the feature especially when it's being made to look like legitimate traffic). I could probably move off of it easily enough if Pretendo stuff didn't rely on it, because Splatoon Unofficial and Crossing Corner already has 90% of people or so using Matrix instead of Discord. Cellmapping stuff I can use ISPreview for (have become a bit more active over there again) and then I don't really care for the rest of my servers (I do run another one with people from my local area, but honestly I do not care enough for it). The only other thing that sucks is that I then lose contact with some people. Some I have contact here on fedi, some I have contact with on WhatsApp or in person and some I could find other methods of reaching out to. But still, it just sucks. Even though I know most people don't use it, I think things like fedi and Matrix are really important, especially in these times. I don't have to hand over any sort of ID information to contact someone or message someone, and if a server does start requiring that, I just move somewhere else or self-host.
