Thanks for posting these. I find them fascinating.
(One I've always wondered about is "albeit" - the dictionary gives me the basic etymology, but that's not very illuminating and doesn't talk about other languages...)

@cazabon@mindly.social 'Albeit' has parallells in other languages, but it wasn't created before English. For example, Dutch has 'zij het', literally "be it", and 'al is het', literally "even though it is".
