Cory articulates something I’ve felt for a long time. How neither the Internet, or the web, or smartphones required coercion to get people to use them. They had organic adoption because many people found them valuable and useful. Bottom up.
Remember how Slack got its initial adoption? Employees lobbied their managers to use it because they liked it so much compared to email. As another bottom up example.

@jefframnani@mastodon.social until about late 2023, I was happy to try out chatgpt, but then the narrative changed. Maybe if it wasn't forced, sold as job replacement and done with polluting data centers, things would have been different.

@jefframnani@mastodon.social @pluralistic@mamot.fr And that's why the Metaverse was always doomed to failure. Nobody wants to wear a VR headset for long periods of time. Not to hang out with friends, go to meetings, or whatever. It was insane to think they would.
