Hey #GearSquad. Anyone else hate standard 3 way toggles? I feel like they’re constantly failing on me.
So today I tried wiring up a DPDT on/on/on switch instead on one of my problem child guitars. I bought some non-mini versions of the switch, so they fit easily in the same pick guard or body hole that standard switches fit.
And lo! It works!
Time will tell if it’s more reliable than the standard switch. But being fully sealed and therefore less likely to corrode or get debris in there, I’m hopeful.
And here’s the wiring setup I used. A bit fiddly because everything is so packed tight on these things, but you win some you lose some.

@RyanHyde@techhub.social I think the quality of a switch matters more than the type, and I think it's great that you fixed your guitar. Any switch is going to wear out. A slider switch on my Jag needs me to wiggle it a bit to get it to connect sometimes. The Les Paul style 3 ways I've seen look pretty durable under the hood to me, and they can do that stutter sound on a guitar with two volume knobs.
