i think maybe it's inappropriate now to call myself a 'progressive' wrt American politics because the people who claim to be progressives seem to be the same as they were 100 years ago: willing to accept imperialist violence in exchange for treatos. to sum it up: the argument that "the left" agitating against the Democrats in the 2024 election does more harm/"why are you attacking your own side?" shit. my position is i will "vote strategically" for the candidate who promises that we will have "the most prepared and lethal fighting force in the world" and still ask: "why don't we also use that lethal and prepared fighting force to put a stop to the ongoing genocides in Gaza and Darfour?" this is a legitimate question for the Democrats, so-called progressives, and anybody who just wants free healthcare, legal abortion and weeeeed bro. are the Democrats willing to take the real steps in the coming years to reconcile the US's history on the world stage as well? until it is, my vote is held hostage. if it's harmful that i don't shut up about this fact, then i'm not sorry.
