@AnnaSaultron@nerdculture.de the movie wasn’t that bad but it missed that little thing that made the books so good: notably, Valerian is almost always clueless, and it’s often Laureline who saves the day — or when it’s Valerian it’s mostly unintentionally. Also the books have rarely a typical villain… unless it’s a human.
If you can find them, don’t hesitate, I’m pretty sure you will enjoy them !

@art_of_goulwenr@mastodon.art the movie was visually appealing and I like the story, it made clear, that there is a lot more worldbuilding going on and it was a nice entertainment, but Fifth Element and Taxi (as other Luc Besson movies) just had... More weight to it. That I, as a viewer, felt trusted to get the story and be taken serious as a person, I would describe it. Valerian isn't bad at all but somehow shallow in contrast to the other movies I known and like from Luc Besson. Still absolutely worth a watch and entertaining. I will grab them at the first opportunity I have. 🙂
