There is a very interesting French lineage of philosophers and historians of science engaging with chemistry and these early writings by Pierre Duhem were also early contributions to that lineage; a very interesting book on the evolution of chemical concepts of mixedness and combination from 1902 and a great and nuanced history of the precursors of Lavoisier, published during WWI. #PierreDuhem #historyofchemistry #chemistry #SystemsThatMatter
