The next area would be to figure how big and scalable home model rocketry motors can be made/acquired. We're getting there!

There's been big strides made in sugar based solid rocket fuels.

there is a licensing process to obtain the larger rocket motors. You have to prove you can use the smaller ones. They do this at Lake Lucern Dry Lake Bed in California... edit: The motors can get quit large. The largest I saw powered a 1/4 scale V2.
