Hi, all, I have done a non-representative survey that confirms some of my priors and want to share! Most people (15/18) prefer to write A>B over B<A. It turns out that most of these (8 of the 11 that answered the follow-up) _read_ the math out ("A is larger than B") with words, while of those that prefer B<A, 3 of 4 do not read it but view it as a symbol/pictogram/diagram of the math, showing a smaller thing on the left compared to the right.
