@zhcet@mastodon.design It is a bit strange state to be at for more than a decade old product. Maybe the merge into a family will actually help? I have’t used v2, so have no idea of evolution direction. But e.g. Cavalry, another Canva acquisition, left an impression of having way stronger design than Affinity. Still dense, still has its own style, but way more coherency, clarity. But I would agree, that old Adobe is the best. Is it that hard to copy the principles?

    @mrudokas@mastodon.social I’m not a huge fan of the Cavalry design either but I’d say everything except the coat of paint on top is way better. My theory on all the bad pro app interfaces is that most designers today had the majority of their training making mobile apps which don’t lend themselves to density. Most good high-density desktop apps are either older, or designed by programmers (who design in-context not on an abstract canvas)
