When reading a document set in Quasimoda by Botio Nikoltchev (Lettersoup), I stumbled over a date similar to the one shown in the middle line below. The kerning within the triplet ‘7.1’ breaks the rhythm of the entire line.
So this is a reminder to be careful when kerning figures against punctuation. Some languages use punctuation in their date formats—and you don’t want things to look like this.
(Unlike here, it was not a tabular setting, so tabular figures wouldn’t have made any sense.)
