what fucking employer is going to hire a disabled person at 11 hours per week, when they aren't even hiring able-bodied people at 40 hours per week? genuine fucking question
(context: ADAP states that you can earn up to $700/mo before your benefits get clawed back. at $15/hr, that would be about 11 hours per week. on top of the max of $1740, that would be a maximum of $2440 per month you can earn. disabled couples on AISH/ADAP are also getting hit - no longer is the clawback restricted to those in interabled or "one disabled partner makes good money" relationships)
Edit: oh yeah, the $200/mo federal disability benefit is counted as non exempt income by Alberta. they're taking federal money, meant to go to disabled people, and doing...what with it, exactly?

they have the absolute gall to send letters to AISH/ADAP recipients, pouring praise all over themselves and lying straight to disabled peoples faces about what's being taken away from them they have the absolute gall to slip in the reduction to disabled couples benefits, without any public notice, and only 6 goddamn weeks before the changes take effect they have the absolute fucking nerve to do this shit, and groups here that claim to be fighting for justice constantly forget about/exclude disability justice from their efforts, so the danger disabled people are currently in here is being swept under the fucking rug "flood the zone" has worked remarkably well in that regard, it seems
