I have learned that I'm surprisingly good at recognising specific kanji, hanja and Chinese characters. But only as long as they're in regular script.
Once they're in cursive my brain just refuses to interprete them and goes "squiggles".
I'm sure this is lack of experience, since I remember not being able to "take apart" logograms in any language when I was young.
But also part of it is just that cursive in any language is mostly, if not entirely, "just squiggles" to me.
