@narF@mstdn.ca Yes; you beat me to it. We can argue about the artists' payouts for streaming, and we can talk about the implications of normalising cloud storage as The One Method for keeping data, but however we look at it, those do bring genuine value to lots of people and maybe the *most* value to people who can't afford to drop €20 - €30 or more on a recent movie or music album. Also, until genAI came along, my recollection is that datacenter power use was going down despite increasing use. @axbom@axbom.me
