However, authors and reviewers face multiple challenges. Reviewers are faced with a glut of review requests, often poor matches of expertise areas and short deadlines. Moreover, they are faced with quality issues that can arise from the use of AI by authors, e.g. hallucinated citations and manipulations of images.
