Its not even the concept of sacrificing themselves to save everything, (allthough i wouldn't have taken the story that way). Theres like no payoff aside from a shot of assorted characters in a park. We don't get context or emotion, the show even says "and nothing happened" The last episode just kinda fizzled out without an impact
