@nbeeson@mastodon.social always look at what others do. Look at bulk cost, look at vendor prices, decide if that margin works for you. I had a similar idea, but the thing is, most people who know about and would use such a device, will probably build it themselves. Or know the prices and won't give you the margin you may want to have. Optimal scenario: Apple unboxing feeling, but that high quality boxes are not cheap. Also it has to work without or the least minimum amount of configuration.

    @nbeeson@mastodon.social and there are a lot of different 'home networks', which are who knows how, put together. (I don't have clue, but I guess its very diverse). And if people do not like it/can't use it, get ready for a lot of returns... So don't go for cheap looks, not perfectly aligned clearances or unsmooth textures. And I guess the brand/positioning also matters alot. Best case scenario is, you make non-techie people aware that this is what they need. The DIY market is so saturated, IMHO.
