@chris It's been a few months since I've driven a Beetle so maybe I'm forgetting some flaws but I think they're hard to improve upon. Id say start with a pre-67 body, add an SVDA diatributor, seat belts, stereo, and modern whitewall tires,. Keep stock-ish wheels. Drop spindles. Shock absorbers to taste. Then drive, drive, drive. Replace what you don't like.
