Pretty insane #Barrowmaze tonight. At one point the party sights another group about 50 feet down a large corridor and decides to wait. They see light from around another corner that seems to indicate fire beetles, but they wait. Then they notice a large group of tomb robbers approaching them from behind. The party with their lights dimmed withdraws further to let them pass. The tomb robbers eventually encounter the other two parties who have already been "debating" loudly and now things get worse. The players move closer to observe as the fighting starts in the large corridor. DARKNESS. STINKING CLOUD. Screaming! And then from behind the PCs: A group of five zombies! The players don't mess around and kill the zombies in a single round. Tomb robbers flee from the other combat, running past the player characters. About half of them anyway. Eventually a bunch of cultists approach. They are carefully retreating from the combat as well and want to head south through the room where the players think the fire beetles are. PC magic-user pops out and LIGHTNING BOLTs some cultists, then they kill two more with swords. They can't see the leader but as one of them moves further into the corridor to get a better look, that lead cultist pops out and casts SLEEP which puts everyone except for four PCs down. But they handle it well with a triple MAGIC MISSILE! And it turns out that the "fire beetles" was a rope with CONTINUAL LIGHT on it wrapped in dirty rags colored red and yellow. 😅
