I wonder if people have some experience, advise, and suggestions on keeping research journals. A "human trace" where I record the dead ends, counter examples, and the intuition behind these counter examples; so that I don't repeat my mistakes (I have been doing that a lot), and hopefully share that with the world. The main questions are - what is the best format to keep my notes concise, organized, and accessible. - In the beginning of the project, when there are too many design combination to try but not yet a solid intuition of the subject, how to keep my thoughts organized at that stage? - How to integrate this log/trace into my research workflow, both in producing these traces and in using them.
