Decentralized or even p2p functionality does not need to be the only mechanism for which communication can traverse. It can be secondary or even off by default, just like Signal offers an in-settings toggle for censorship issues. My very first point blows Signal’s assumptions out of the water, in that centralized mega infra is necessary for things like uptime. Not even Amazon has 100% uptime, yet decentralized protocols do
