7. Monitor backlink health and act on problems
Backlink monitoring is an ongoing maintenance task, not a one-time report. A healthy link can become broken for several reasons: the source page may be deleted, the destination may return an error, the URL may redirect, or the anchor may be removed during an edit.
Set a regular review schedule. Weekly checks are useful during an active campaign; monthly checks may be enough for a mature portfolio. Flag the following conditions: (25/38)

- Source page returns a 4xx or 5xx error. - Destination URL is broken or redirected unexpectedly. - Link is missing from the source page. - Source page is blocked from crawling. - Content has changed enough that the link is no longer relevant. - A previously stable page has been replaced with thin or unrelated content.
