  @christmastree@mastodon.social @scathach@stereophonic.space I can recommend you Delta Chat, it is pretty similar to Signal (it forked the Signal UI) and it doesn't require any phone numbers or any data at all registration is super smooth, no SMS codes, no reCAPTCHA, etc. just set a name and go, NO ONE can discover you and write to you without you giving them your contact invite link so no scam possible on top of that it has multi-profile and multi-device support, you can use the same profile in several devices! also each device works as an automatic incremental backup! no need to pay some shady cloud for backups
