I like to think I've managed to do work that empowered folk through my paid jobs, I realise this is dependent on the line of work you're in and that being in education put me in a position to do it while getting paid, but in my experience a lot of people find ways to exert a positive influence *through* their jobs, there is leverage you can use in a company that many don't think of

@sue@glasgow.social Sometimes, and not by any means always, people are trying to point out how consumer behavior is hurting people, & the only means to put out that information is to blanket the world with it. Some folks are, for example, trying to get people not to buy Scotchguard (3M) to prevent PFAS proliferation. It probably wouldn't have made an economic dent, or an environmental one, but it has been a vehicle to call out the heinous behavior of 3M executives. Pick through arguments for what's useful?
