@s_bergmann@chaos.social setting is available on both Android and iOS for me (and synced between all platforms). Interestingly, the setting is not available on Web for me, but still shorts are gone on Web for me as well. Implementation wise, I'd guess it's rather some feature toggle, than one requiring an app update.
