@agirvan @cstross @maya_b That was true at the time. Various senior EU officials stated that an independent Scotland would have had to leave and reapply for membership. I suspect a successful IndyRef would have killed off a Brexit referendum at least In the short term. Winning in 2014 gave Cameron the confidence he could win in 2016.
