@furicle@mastodon.social @philiph@hachyderm.io After all, making the monitors report different serial numbers via EDID would require programming the serial number into the electronics on the assembly line. That might cost an extra 50 cents, can't have that. (Okay, it's probably slightly more expensive and complex than that, depending on how everything is assembled. Sometimes it feels marvelous that anything winds up knowing its own serial number.)
