Yes, Nix (the package manager) and NixOS are amazing! I’ve been daily driving NixOS for almost a year now. Tbh it’s a very steep learning curve but if you want to tinker a little and have some patience to gradually build your config over time it really pays off, especially the reproducability and stability. It’s super easy to create a config that you can use across devices, so your system and user config are consistent.

@s1m0n4@ohai.social @jon_bon@toot.cat When I moved over another machine that was using windows it took me maybe 20 minutes to get it to be exactly like my other machine, including all keybinds, wallpapers, theme files, etc. And I break something i can always roll back to the last working version! Only difficulty is managing space on something like an old laptop - you’re gonna need at least 50GB just for basic system files and packages.
