After 10 years of depression and anxiety treatment, which granted was real thanks to my childhood trauma™, multiple drug changes with no major improvement except for keeping me alive. My psychiatrist began diagnosing me for ADHD and gave me methylphenidate. The silence in my head after just the first dose was shocking, I could finally focus on my work, and I'm less exhausted later in the evening. It's a weird thing being diagnosed for ADHD at 36yo, but I'm told that my depression and anxiety simply masked those things. It also helped that most of my adult life I was doing science, which is my passion and hiperfocus. But because I'm after succesfull therapy and work on things that don't stimulate me mentally, the symptoms became overwhelming to the point that I was falling behind everything. Now I'm sitting here and keep going back to my past, and many things start making so much sense. The funniest thing in all of this is that a couple of years ago, I was the first person who noticed ADHD symptoms in my girlfriend, but I didn't notice them in me . #mentalhealth #adhd
