i think math lacks the usual mechanisms for taking positions
like i could state boldly that i believe truly that there exists a largest prime number n such that n+2 is also prime
(or that i believe there are infinitely many)
and 0 out of 100 mathematicians would respect me or think i have anything interesting to say—either i can prove it or i can't, right?
so math people (especially the prolific ones) are basically people who question everything, sincerely and from a place of open curiosity
(i.e. this is the opposite of "just asking questions" in case that isn't clear)
and i think anarchists occupy basically the only political position that can tolerate people who never stop questioning everything that isn't absolutely settled

@matt@istheguy.com @coolsquid@438punk.house me, sitting here with my bespoke category theory in which "settling" is a morphism inducing Lambek residuation: "Quite."
