Globally, the US is already associated with death, oppression, and violence. And within its borders, its poor, queer, women, and racialised citizens all experience more violence from the police, their employers, their landlord, and other facets of #American society. Furthermore, on a broader scope, this is far more in line with 300+ years of American history. The last 70 years of expanding Civil Rights and political freedoms is a fluke when you know about things like the history of American immigration policy until the 1950s, or the trail of tears, or the failure of Reconstruction after the Civil War. But I also think that there is truth that #trump represents a unique threat compared to any of the past American presidents post WWII. Project 2025 seeks to turn the capitalist liberal democracy of the United States into a techno-fuedalist dictatorship. What progress that's been made since the 50s in the sexual, gender, and racial spheres when it comes to civil rights is being rapidly reversed. Many people have never lived in a world akin to the one shown on TV and movies set before Roe v. Wade or during the Civil Rights movement and are justified in being terrified that the world either grew up in or saw develop in their early adulthood. Anyways I probably didn't articulate this that well but I had this thought at work and had to get it out
