I often lament that I have failed as a parent to really inculcate a love of books in this kid; other than a couple of Captain Underpantses I don’t think he’s ever really read a whole book on his own. Now, approaching the end of grade six, he’s got his first book report, and imagine my delight and surprise that he chose one of my absolute favourite childhood books, completely of his own accord, and in two days of reading has plowed through nearly half of it. I think I’m gonna reread it myself when he’s done
