Have you tried Smart Launcher? It's really top tier, the developers are in our Discord(what used to be the official Nova Discord), very active and have added quite a few things from Nova that users have asked about since we all got laid off last year.

(stupid excuse, I know, but yeah) My main things that I like Nova for: - slide to the left to get the app tray and instantly start search - ability to have folder specific behavior (some I have one-click to open app but slide to open folder. Some the opposite) - Ability to set a widget as a homescreen persistent one at the bottom (say you have a search widget, that it doesn't stick to a specific homescreen panel but is locked to the screen)
