@thenexusofprivacy This is indeed a positive signal. That said, as long as an enemy element is still on the working group, ongoing vigilance is indicated. It&#39;s not all that surprising that they&#39;re getting &quot;bored&quot; with ActivityPub. The regulatory threat is waning with the fascist capture of the US and possible in-progress collapse of GDPR, so the need to openwash in this particular manner is no longer as acute. And I will always believe that the pushback from #FediPact and the widespread response of revulsion from the community was a thing they had not previously encountered, were inept at countering, and that successfully pissed into their punchbowl. In fact, most of the fedi is blocking them at this point except for the flagship, so if/when they pull out altogether almost no one will even notice except for the collaborators @FediPact

As things worked out Fedi was just a positioning spin and contingency plan for them. That said they were clearly hoping it would be more an accelerator in some way or they wouldn't have dumped the resources into it that they did ... and if it seemed like they were really making progress they would have invested more. The fierce and high-profile resistance of #FediPact and the Free Fediverse made it clear that nope, the "upsides" they were hoping for probably weren't going to happen. Of course that's not the only thing that changed but it's certainly a big factor! And as you say, just like Gab, they're widely defederated. Defederation' is a blunt tool and fedi relies on it too much but it is effective at fighting fascists! @ophiocephalic@kolektiva.social @FediPact@cyberpunk.lol
