Privacy is hard. I once bought a pair of trousers in a shop I had bought clothes from before. I did not know the size of the garment I bought before from the same brand, so they looked it up. When I asked "how can you look that up?", they answered that I was the only customer who used cash. Even an attempt at privacy can stand out like a beacon.
