The scanning and editing of these is moving along really well. Helped my my enthusiasm for the content matter no doubt. Just wanted to give a little example of the differences between the old scans from what looks like 6 years ago that have been uploaded to the Internet Archive and the new ones I'm working on myself now. Some weird stuff going on. For example the scans appear to be 300DPI but saved at a lower JPG quality setting resulting in PDF's that are well under 100MB. The pages also appear to be stretched in weird ways. The sides match up on the left and right, but the middle stretches out an inch or so. I can't upload big gifs here, so these are jpgs instead. As you can see with the my scan on the right, it's quite a bit sharper and nowhere near as grainy as the old one. Also strange how two of the こ characters have the top parts missing on the other version... And how 5 of the big green kanji bleed into themselves. That might be due to printing being very different from one copy to the next though.
