I run Forgejo myself, but neither Codeberg nor a self-hosted Forgejo are universal alternatives to GitHub. Forgejo is nice, and can do a lot, but there's also a lot they can't do. One good example I just recently discovered is that packages/containers always share the visibility of the user/org they're in, not the repo they're linked to, and there's no visibility settings for each package/container. So if your org is public, *all* container images in that org will be public, always. That alone is a show-stopper for a lot of cases. There are a lot of good reasons to stay on GitHub.
