Simple. It will take pissing off the world until a coalition forms and the US is invaded. The world is passive these days, and the US smells blood in the water. To them, it is the perfect opportunity to attempt a world conquest, where all countries outside the US are replaced with client states, such as the Confederation of the Rhine.
