being poly is fundamentally the bet that giving up on certain boundaries will be less painful than (trying to enforce them and having them violated), or (successfully enforcing them and having the other person become bitter and resentful over them) basically you just hope that "yeah i guess i didn't tell you not to do that" hurts less than the alternative
