@brianb@fosstodon.org Yes, solar would be great for that, since hot sunny days are when you need the cooling most. I've run across several interesting solar energy developments lately. One is solar-in-a-box; a farmer was using it to power his milking machines. He liked it because it didn't need much installation and he could rent it, or buy it and resell later if he didn't want it any more.     @brianb@fosstodon.org I'm also interested in "balcony solar". These are panels that plug right into any standard outlet and reduce your reliance on power from the grid. They have an inverter and circuitry that turns them off during a power outage to protect electrical workers.
