@kaia@pleroma.soykaf.com i think i need to come back to this once more because i think i was kind of missing the point: in the (very near) future there won't be software releases the way we have now. people will have their own software. if you want to join the fediverse, your agent will look up the specs and write a client appropriate for your taste. so 'free software' as we know it will surely die, but the goals (user sovereignty) will be achieved in ways that nobody would have thought possible.

@kaia@pleroma.soykaf.com this is not theoretical. i've been doing this for the last few months. it's available to people who know how these things work. but that's just a few more advances away. my wife's agent got stuck. i had a separate line to it, and told it do un-stuck itself, and it did it. these were the kinds of issues that would take half a day of intense thought to resolve. now it's a few telegram messages. pic related, my personal youtube client.
