Aliens, ghosts, demons, etc, are all very similar in their nature as non-physical entities. Also this definition of demon is from Webster's first 1828 dictionary.

And given the utterly intangible nature of the encounters, (sightings, radar readings, etc.), that defy explanation, the illusory powers attributed to them by exorcists matches up with preternatural demonic activity in the case of many UFO sightings.
