@julietxhappycloud@mastodon.social @ExpiredPopsicle@vt.social I'm in a similar situation, having to relearn Mastodon after being away from it for a while. Had to go and make a new account and everything just to make my life easier. I'd say the big thing is to explore, create, and engage with other people just like how social media was meant to be.

@ericsburdon@mastodon.social @julietxhappycloud@mastodon.social @ExpiredPopsicle@vt.social Biggest advice for now is to get off of .social and migrate onto a different instance See: https://fedi.tips/its-a-really-bad-idea-to-join-a-big-server/ Server index: https://joinmastodon.org/servers (Easy) Account migration guide: https://fedi.tips/transferring-your-mastodon-account-to-another-server/ mastodon.social makes up a very large percentage of all accounts on the Fediverse, so many feel it somewhat cancels out the decentralised nature of ActivityPub (the open protocol Mastodon, Sharkey and other apps are based on). Also, due to its size, there is no real sense of community The quirks and culture differences can be a lot at first but after a month or two it'll all be second nature (except maybe some of the acronyms in content warnings lol) If the feeds start to get a bit dry try following more people! 🙃 Useful tips: https://infosec.exchange/@Em0nM4stodon/109323504324459171 Useful tips: @FediTips@social.growyourown.services Hope I helped ‼️
