@clarity@xoxo.zone 'a few hundred dollars' can feed a family for a week. If I had that kind of money to spend on a meal I would give it to a food insecure person instead. And if afterwards I still had that kind of money to spend on a meal I would find the next food insecure person. Don't tell me this is virtue signalling. Each time I would derive more pleasure from someone not going hungry than I would from any possible meal. I guess that you don't does constitute a class boundary between us.

    @j12i@weirder.earth Deleted my first reply bc it put words in your mouth, sorry. More calmly: I have a tech job and it pays well, so, yeah, there is a class difference between us. I don't think you're virtue signaling. I do wonder if you think that way about -all- luxury purchases in the 100-300 dollar range, or just food purchases?
