@ahltorp@mastodon.nu @albertojavier@universeodon.com @rrustema020@mastodon.nl Moving house isn't exactly a commercial purpose if you're doing it yourself, ditto for carrying bags of sand or cement or whatever for some backyard renovations, although admittedly you don't even really need a medium-duty rig (class-3 through 6; GVWRs ranging between 10,001 and 26k lbs in the US) for doing that generally, and can in most cases get away with something truly light-duty (class-1 and 2; GVWRs ranging up to 10k lbs in the US) for those types of applications.

@dfx4509b@mas.to @albertojavier@universeodon.com @rrustema020@mastodon.nl If you need to own a work vehicle, you’re using it regularly, which means it’s commercial purpose. I understand that people want to move their own stuff with heavier vehicles, but infrequent use also means that they wouldn’t be used to the vehicle when they’re using it, especially with a heavier load, so that is a danger in itself. That’s a reason to only allow professionals to use them.

@dfx4509b@mas.to @ahltorp@mastodon.nu @rrustema020@mastodon.nl part of the problem - in my daily experience, the way people love driving large pick up trucks (starting right at the f-150) like if they were a porsche, is because they are wrongly advertised from the manufacturers. Of course the manufacturers only care about selling the cars..
